History

The Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA) was formed in 1893; the first Association to be formed in South America, becoming members of FIFA in 1912 and, along with Brazil, Chile and Uruguay, became founding members of CONMEBOL in 1916.

Argentina's first official international game was a 6–0 win in a friendly match away to Uruguay in July 1902.
