Story of the tournament
The 1887–88 British Home Championship saw a record number of goals scoreds; 46 in six games, 26 of them conceded by Ireland.
Wales bounced back from an opening 1-5 defeat to England by thrashing Ireland 11-0, Wales' record victory, with Newton Heath's Jack Doughty scoring four goals.
Doughty, who also scored against England and Scotland, remains the only player to have scored four goals in one game for Wales.
